Health Action Trust - NBS Community Impact Award, Joint Winner 2025
FROM THE WINNERS

“Entering the NBS Community Impact category was a valuable opportunity for Health Action Trust to reflect on over 40 years of supporting people in our community through mental health and addiction peer support and health promotion services. The application process encouraged us to outline the impact of lived experience leadership and the importance of community-based responses to wellbeing.
Winning the award was both humbling and meaningful. It recognised the dedication of our past and present kaimahi, as well as the courage and determination of the many people with lived experience who have helped shape our services.
We also appreciated the judging process and the genuine interest shown in the difference community organisations make – it’s such an important category. The experience reinforced the value of collaboration across the region to support healthier, more connected communities.”

2025 NBS Community Impact Joint Winner
"Winning the NBS Community Impact Award is significant for Ministry of Inspiration (MOI) because it recognises more than a decade of work creating meaningful STEAMS opportunities for tamariki and rangatahi. Founded in Nelson Tasman in 2012 with no funding, MOI set out to address the lack of hands-on STEAMS learning available outside the classroom.
Since then, MOI has grown into a nationally recognised organisation delivering programmes such as NZAquaBots, RoboCup Jr, STEAMS School, and community events, with a strong focus on rural and isolated communities. Many former participants now pursue STEAMS careers and return as mentors.
The award highlights the real impact MOI has had - showing how a grassroots initiative from Nelson Tasman can inspire and empower young people across Aotearoa."
